Almost every eye test we do at Charlestown Eyecare includes an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan of the retina, and the optic nerve.
An OCT scan is an entirely painless. It scans the layers of the eye, often combined with a photograph of the inner eye, and allows us full visibility of parts of the eye that we would not otherwise see using older methods of examination.

At Charlestown Eyecare we believe an OCT scan is an essential part of the eye test. We wouldn’t want to offer an eye examination without the ability to offer OCT as it provides much more information regarding the health of the inner eye and allows us to monitor certain eye conditions and their progress.
